Need a Tutor?
Tutoring is available on a walk-in basis, but priority access is given to students with scheduled appointments. Tutoring is generally one-on-one but small group tutoring may be available. You may schedule single tutoring sessions or a standing tutoring appointment, subject to tutor availability. You can schedule a tutoring appointment by visiting the Student Success and Academic Advising Center in Pope John Paul II Room 210 or by calling 260.399.8065.
The tutoring center is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tutor availability for specific subjects, as well as the tutoring schedule, varies by semester. Times are posted on the bulletin board outside Room 210 and in the appointment books in the tutoring center. Individual subjects may not have tutors available at all times. Subject to tutor availability, the Student Success and Academic Advising Center provides help with writing, math, chemistry, physics, and pathophysiology. Anatomy and Physiology tutoring is also available, but takes place in Achatz Hall Practice Lab.
Tutoring is also available online via Blackboard. Once you log into Blackboard, look for the SmarThinking tab. A complete schedule is posted on Blackboard, and in some cases online tutors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week .
Notes about Tutoring at USF
Please remember that our tutors are peers, not professors, so there are limitations to the scope of their assistance in the tutoring center. If a peer tutor in any subject offers a grade for an assignment, please contact a member of the Student Success and Academic Advising Center staff as soon as possible, as this is not appropriate or expected. Also, keep in mind that writing tutors are not meant to provide a proofreading service. If you are seeking writing help, you should expect to work in partnership with the tutor throughout the writing process to improve and strengthen your written work.
