Emergency Case Management

emergency (n.): “sudden occurrence demanding quick action”
In some emergency situations, you may find that you will have to miss class and, due to the suddenness of the event, that you will be unable to contact your instructors about your absence. Student Success and Academic Advising Center staff members can assist in such cases by making the initial contact with faculty.

  • Contact the Center as soon as possible when you know you will miss class.
  • A Student Success and Academic Advising Center staff member will then contact your instructors.
  • After the initial instructor contact has been made by the Center, it is then your responsibility to communicate with your instructors to address missed class, make-up work, etc.

In extreme or ongoing situations, the Student Success and Academic Advising Center may assist with additional instructor contact.

It is important to note that the case management service is for use only in emergency situations. You should communicate directly with your instructors regarding any regular illnesses, funeral absences, etc.
